INTRODUCTION

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

It is the absolute best in sound for true earbuds. They have the best sound quality. These are water-resistant and can survive some splashes. The bass of these earbuds is pretty impressive. All the touch controls are a lot more accurate compared to the previous version. The settings can be customized using the Sennheiser app.

Sony WF 1000XM3

This is an awesome pair of earbuds. They are comfortable and sleek. The case comes with the C type USB and is a neat little charging case. The case is not as bulky as other earbud cases. It is small and easy to carry around and even fits in the pocket. The earbuds go into their case and are quite intuitive.

SOUND

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

They have active noise canceling and they fix most of those problems found in version one. It does have more holes on the side so it may be better in call quality. These earbuds have a lot of clarity. They are very powerful, impactful, and satisfying at the same time. The sound stage is huge and there is a lot of depth. The bass is really impressive. It does give the boom without being boomy or muddy. In the app, there is an equalizer that can be customized. They are crisp and clean sound. In the mids and the highs, the vocals are silky smooth and realistic. All the details are very crisp and very pronounced as well, without being sharp or harsh to the ear. It is very percussive and rhythmic. The sounding is very impressive.

Sony WF 1000XM3

These earbuds do sound good. These headphones have a very flat sound. There is not too much low-end, not too much high-end and the mids are quite good as well. However when the noise canceling is turned on, a little bit of that high-end is lost. It’s not terrible by any means and even with the noise-canceling on it, it still sounds heaps better. There are three different sound profiles. The first one is the noise canceling. It is going to almost sound like being sucked into a vacuum. Most of the sound gets sucked away which is a cool feeling. It is not gonna cancel out everything though it does less of a good job. The next down mode is an ambient sound mode and this is too a cool mode. Basically what that’s gonna do is the opposite of noise canceling. It’s gonna use the microphone’s built-in to take in sound from all around and then shoot it into the ears. It sort of sounds like the earbuds are not worn. The third mode is not a mode. It’s kind of just turning the other two modes off.

FEATURES

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

They are smaller compared to the previous version. The water resistance rating is ipx4 meaning that the earbuds can survive splashes and raindrops. The touch controls are a lot more accurate. There are different tones for the different numbers of taps which helps know how many times a tap has been made. The tap controls are customizable in the app and one can customize them to anything that one wants. Controlling the volume can be very precise. It does feature the latest and greatest Bluetooth 5.1 which gives faster connections and low power consumption. This is great because when watching Netflix, YouTube, and playing League of Legends on the computer, iPad, and Android phones there is no delay at all. It is great. But the disappointing thing here is that there is no multi pairing or hot-swappable connections. These earbuds are not paired independently meaning that the right is the main and if it is put back in the case while using, the left one will not work on its own. These two booths with connecting things are very disappointing.

Sony WF 1000XM3

This model comes in black and silver. The case is NFC pairing which can be done by simply holding your Android device in front of it. It allows for an instant connection that makes pairing and disconnect devices fast. This, in turn, makes switching devices a seamless process. This cannot be done using iPhones. But for iPhone pairing, once the earbuds are removed from the case, they automatically answer pairing mode. The blue LEDs indicate the communication status of the headsets. They look pretty sleek and modern on the ear. To add to that, if the fingers are wet or sweaty, the touch sensors won’t work and that’s because these are not waterproof or water-resistant. It’s very sensitive to water. These touchpads work like a charm. The laminated surface is very responsive to the touch and the touchpads on each unit can be customized from inside Sony’s headphones. The playback can be controlled with standard single double and triple taps. That’s used for pausing and skipping tracks. The other option is the integrated google assistant that responds immediately once happening and holding while talking and then releasing it when done. It’s quick and it works just as expected. It also helps to read back incoming notifications as well.

COMFORT

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

The earbuds are smaller in size which is gonna work a lot better for people with smaller ears. The smallest size does fit in the ear quite nicely because the earbuds are supported nicely on the bottom. Nothing is hanging on top. So when working out there may be a feeling of these juggling in the ears a lot that may bother some people. These earbuds are more of a comfort fit than a secure fit. The earbuds may use the whole day when watching Netflix, playing games and there will be no feeling of any fatigue while wearing them for that long.

Sony WF 1000XM3

The box contains seven pairs of ear tips including three silicone and three foam tips. The texture of the foam ones are not that great and they do not stay in the ear too well. They are very comfortable to wear just as long as the right sized ear tips are worn and give it a little twist once is the earbud is inside the ear. They are not uncomfortable or irritating by any means but they are just not as secure. They tend to loosen up while doing any activity like eating or laughing or smiling.

BATTERY LIFE AND CHARGING CASE

Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2

This has a premium textured cloth material on the outside in charcoal color. This may be better to prevent stains. The charge gives 7 hours of battery life and if it is put back in the case it gives 3 additional charges for a total of 28 hours which is pretty impressive. When using active noise-canceling it does take more battery life so when using the earbuds at 70 to 80% with active noise-canceling, they come for around 5 hours in a bit and without active noise-canceling, they come for around 6 hours. 20 minutes of battery life per charge is pretty decent. After using the earbuds always put them back in the case and they will be recharging again. Whenever taken out of the case they are full so they never seem to run out of battery life. The battery per charge is pretty low when compared to the other earbuds. The case holds the charge for four days straight.

Sony WF 1000XM3

The case’s pretty sizable and portable. The red LED indicators on both earbuds to indicate that charging is in progress and the same goes for the case itself, which once charging is complete at a turn right off. The case provides three full recharges for the earbuds giving a total of 24 hours of listening time and it takes an hour to have to charge the earbuds from 0 to 100. To charge the case and the air buds together it takes three and a half hours. If the battery runs out, the voice guidance tells the battery percentage every single time when the earbud is taken out of the convenient case. The best part is that a ten-minute charge will give you 90 minutes of listening time which is phenomenal. There is no need to charge this case more than twice a week. If that maybe even once a week. No complaints with the battery life on these earbuds.

WHICH TO BUY?

The Sony WF 1000XM3 is winning the active noise-canceling area and it is subjective. The sound between these two overall they are very very close. The only complaint with Sony WF 1000XM3 is that they are uncomfortable and keep moving when used for long. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 and Sony WF 1000XM3 both are really good bass earbuds. Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 would be the best buy for the price and its features.
