Expert Review

ThinkPad T495

Great display, long battery life, and good performance. Given its lower price, the ThinkPad T495 is a great alternative to the Intel-equipped ThinkPad T490. The only real downside is the missing Thunderbolt 3 port. Whether or not this is important to you depends on how you intend to use it, but it is definitely not a must-have for an office laptop.

ThinkPad T495S

The ThinkPad T495s isn’t going to win any awards for raw computing horsepower, but it should prove a reliable platform for office software, email and web browsing when you’re on the road. With a slim but robust design and all-day battery life, it also has a more competitive price tag than many of its Intel-based rivals.

With the ThinkPad T495s, Lenovo offers a very good and above all, more affordable alternative to the Intel-based ThinkPad T490s. If it had not been for the problem with the high-pitched fan noise, the T495s would have received our unconditional recommendation.
